The UK

The full name: the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The UK is a country, its capital is London. Its head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, but a lot of power has been given to the parliament.
Great Britain is an island. It consists of three semiindependent parts:
England (capital London, symbol red rose)
Scotland (capital Edinburgh, symbol thistle)
Wales (capital Cardiff, symbol daffodil)
Ireland is an island. It consists two parts:
Northern Ireland (belongs to UK, capital Berlfast)
Republic of Ireland, it is independent country (capital Dublin).The Irish symbol is shamrock.
The British flag is called the Union Jack.

Kaudne kõne ajavormi muutusega

Example 1:
Gina said to the teacher: „I hate English.“
Reported speech: Gina told the teacher that she hated English.
*Kaudses kõnes on lauses kolm osa:
1. saatelause
2. sidesõna
3. kaudne kõne

!!! Saatelauses said to -> told !!!

*Jaatavates lausete sidesõna on that, aga selle lisamine lausesse pole kohustuslik.
*Kaudses kõnes muutuvad asesõnad, ajavorm ja mõned muud sõnad.
*Ajavorm muutub aste mineviku poole.
Present Simple -> Past Simple (hate -> hated)
Present Continuous -> Past Continuous (is working -> was working)
Present Perfect -> Past Perfect (has worked -> had worked)
Past Perfect –> EI MUUTU !!! (had worked -> had worked)
Past Simple -> Present Perfect (worked -> had worked)

*Muud muutused
this -> that
these -> those
ago -> before
here -> there
yesterday -> the day before
today -> that day
tonight -> that night, the next day
tomorrrow -> the following day, the next (week)
next (week) -> the following (week)
last (week) -> the (week) before

Questions

*In the introduction use the verb „asked“ (Janet asked Mark).
*After introduction:
a) yes/no questions use „if“
b)special questions use the question word
*Word order
Introduction -> question word/if -> subject(alus) -> predicate(öeldis) -> other words
